Holy crap! Went out and saw Logan the other day with my brother and our friend, and damn....It is a fine piece of work, and that's being light on the praise. The movie tackles a lot of heavy issues and doesn't shy away from them, but there are plenty of feel good moments that make you laugh as well. The characters are portrayed extremely well, and the actors do a great job bringing out the raw emotion in each of their respective characters. I could go on and on praising the film, but in all honesty, even if you're not a fan of the comics, you should go see it. You will not be disappointed.
Ghost in the Shell
I finally got around to watching Ghost in the Shell the other day, the actual animated one from 1995, not the new one. Anyways, I've been meaning to watch it for some time to see if I could get some insight or backstory into the series. While I didn't necessarily get that, I did enjoy the film for the most part. I particularly loved how Kusanagi was portrayed, her being more open and vulnerable with her emotions as well as her thoughts, than in the anime. The animation itself is spectacular, and I felt immersed in the different scenes throughout the movie. The soundtrack was glorious, and felt haunting. The opening title scene was one of my f
Net Neutrality II
Well, this is going to be a short one, but its rather important. If you live in the US, the issue of net neutrality is being brought up again, mostly because at this point, the FCC is announcing plans to remove it and allow large communications corporations like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast to provide internet service to consumers. I did a previous journal on this, so check that out for some more in-depth information. The long-and-short of it is that this not good news for consumers and small businesses since those large corporations can effectively throttle ISPs that they don't endorse, while also getting high-speed broadband to sites they
The Last Unicorn
Okay, been a while. Not much going, tbh. But I digress.
Anyways, I'll try to keep this short. So, one of my new favorite bands, Ninja Sex Party, is coming out with an album today. Well, in anticipation leading up to it, I decided to check out their old music videos, since I hadn't gotten around to it yet. One of the first ones I came across was titled "The Last Unicorn". Intrigued, I gave it a listen, and it blew me away. It was a tribute to the book and movie of the same name, neither of which I'd heard of. So now, I'm very interested in checking them both out (NSP used clips from the movie in their video, and it looked amazing). Also, I ho
Net Neutrality
Hey guys. I don't talk about serious or political topics here, but this one I feel needs to be brought up. It involves net neutrality, and how our glorious leaders are planning to enforce their own set of rules upon the internet. I'm not completely knowledgeable with regards to the topic, but there are plenty of videos and articles out there that can be a great source of information. For me, I've been learning mostly through Philip DeFranco on YouTube, but there's also a great video by John Oliver, where he urges people to comment on the FCC's page on the matter, which I'll put below. If you care as much about a free and open internet as much
